Privacy Policy

The information depends on the features you use:

Guest mode

Guest mode lets you use Higxel without providing Google account information. Guest financial records use Higxel’s normal local and backend storage, but remain separate from any Google-signed-in profile and are not automatically moved or merged when you later sign in. Exiting guest mode does not delete the guest profile.

A guest profile currently includes five receipt scans per calendar month. A shared device allowance may also apply across guest and signed-in profiles on that device. Expense Suggestions, Google Sheets sync and cross-device account access require Google sign-in. Device changes, factory resets, Android identifier changes or app-signing changes may prevent Higxel from finding an earlier guest profile.

Importing financial records

When you choose a CSV, XLSX, or JSON export in Import Data, Higxel reads and parses the selected file on your device. The full file is not uploaded. To identify its header and suggest column matches, Higxel securely sends only the first five non-empty parsed rows, plus basic file-type and sheet context, through its backend to OpenAI. To avoid creating duplicate categories, Higxel may also send unmatched unique imported category names together with your existing category names for conservative matching. If you choose a file from a cloud file provider, that provider may download it to your device under its own terms.

After you confirm the import, supported expense, income, account and category records are saved locally and use Higxel’s normal cloud synchronization and retention rules. Import usage events describe the action, outcome and record type, not your file contents or financial values. Importing financial records is separate from choosing a receipt image for scanning.

Receipt scanning and AI

When you scan or import a receipt, Higxel sends the image, or an optimized copy, through its backend for AI-powered extraction. The image and related instructions may be sent to OpenAI to return editable purchase details. Higxel may use the corrections you save to improve future item, category and grouping suggestions. Receipt images are not copied into that correction history.

Higxel may also run a separate, non-user-facing extraction to measure receipt accuracy. The result shown in the app still comes from the primary extraction. For this quality evaluation, Higxel may keep the two extracted results, model and timing details, token usage, validation results, and the expense details you later save. The comparison record does not contain another copy of the receipt image.

Accounts, income and monthly history

Higxel uses the financial records you enter to calculate balances, income totals, assets, debt and net worth. Income is stored as dated records and grouped by month. Closed months may include one balance snapshot for each financial account. Backdated changes can update affected monthly results.

Account transfers

A transfer records an amount moving between two financial accounts inside Higxel and updates both tracked balances. Transfer records are kept for recovery and future history features. Higxel does not send money or connect to a bank to complete the real-world transfer.

Smart Expense Suggestions

This feature is off by default. If you enable it and grant Android notification access, Higxel reviews supported notifications for possible expenses. It is not designed to read your complete inbox, historical SMS database or message threads. A suggestion only becomes an expense after you choose to save it.

Expense Automation

You can create an Expense Automation rule only from an eligible expense suggestion. When a future payment alert matches that rule, Higxel can create an expense using the title, category, and Paid from account you selected, together with the amount and date from the new alert. You can pause or delete a rule, and you can review or undo an automatically created expense.

You choose whether to connect Google services or export data. Guest mode does not require Google sign-in, but Google-connected and cross-device features require a signed-in profile.

You can disconnect Google access in Higxel or revoke it in your Google Account. This stops future access, but it does not automatically remove data already written to a spreadsheet or file you control.

Higxel’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.

Higxel uses information to create and restore guest or signed-in profiles; provide accounts, income, expenses, transfers, budgets, recurring records, optional Expense Automation rules, suggestions, history, exports, sync and insights; enforce scan allowances and prevent misuse; improve extraction and reliability; secure the service; fix errors; and respond to support requests.

Higxel uses service providers only where needed to operate these features:

Higxel may also disclose information if required by law, to protect users or the service, as part of a business transfer where allowed, or when you direct or consent to the disclosure.

Higxel may store data on your Android device and on Higxel’s backend for both guest and signed-in profiles. Offline changes may remain on the device until they can sync. Data is sent to Google services only when you use the relevant connection.

Data is transmitted over encrypted connections. Higxel also uses authentication and cloud access controls, but no system can be guaranteed completely secure.

Expense, account, income, transfer, Expense Automation rule, category, settings and monthly-history data is generally kept while your Higxel profile is active, until you delete supported records, or until the profile data is deleted. Guest data may remain on the backend after you exit guest mode or uninstall the app so that it can be restored on the same compatible device. Receipt images are kept only as needed for scanning, saved-record support and related app features. Receipt quality-comparison records are scheduled to expire after up to 90 days. Suggestions can be saved or cleared. Operational backups and logs are kept for limited recovery, security and reliability needs and then rotated or deleted.

Some copies may remain briefly in backups or where retention is required by law.
