Higxel uses your information to provide the features you choose. We do not sell personal information or use your expense data for advertising.

02

Information we collect

Depending on the features you use, Higxel may collect or process the following categories of information:

Account and profile information

When you sign in with Google, Higxel may receive information made available through the sign-in flow, such as your name, email address, profile image, and a Google account identifier.

Expense and budget information

This may include merchant names, purchase dates, receipt items, quantities, prices, taxes, discounts, totals, categories, notes, groups, budgets, and spending insights created from your records.

Receipt and imported content

This includes receipt photos or files you choose to scan, OCR text, extracted fields, corrections, and other details you submit while reviewing an expense.

Optional notification-derived information

If you enable Smart Expense Suggestions, Higxel may process supported notification content that appears likely to describe a purchase, payment, transfer, bill, refund, or similar expense-related event.

Connected-service information

If you connect Google Sheets or Google Drive, Higxel may process spreadsheet identifiers, file or folder references, sync settings, and the expense data you choose to send or back up.

Technical and support information

Higxel may process app and service information needed to operate, diagnose, secure, and support the service, such as app version, update eligibility, request timing, error details, sync status, and reliability logs.

03

Receipt scanning, OCR, and AI processing

When you scan or import a receipt, Higxel may use optical character recognition (OCR), rules, and AI-assisted processing to convert the receipt into editable expense data. Processing may occur on your device, through Higxel’s backend, or through contracted service providers, depending on the feature and configuration.

1CaptureYou choose a receipt image or camera scan.
2ExtractOCR and AI identify likely purchase details.
3ReviewYou can correct, group, categorize, or remove items.

What may be sent for processing

Depending on the extraction mode, this may include the receipt image, a reduced or optimized copy of the image, OCR text, image-quality signals, and instructions needed to return structured expense fields.

How to understand AI results

AI and OCR output is probabilistic and may be incomplete or incorrect. Higxel presents extracted information for review; you remain responsible for confirming merchant names, amounts, dates, categories, and line items before relying on them.

Plain-language explanation

Higxel uses AI as an extraction assistant, not as an authority over your finances. The goal is to reduce typing by suggesting structured data from a receipt, while keeping the final record editable by you.

04

Smart Expense Suggestions and Android notification access

Smart Expense Suggestions is an optional Android feature. If you enable notification access in Android settings, the operating system allows Higxel to receive notification content posted by apps on your device. Higxel uses this access to look for supported expense-related notifications and suggest possible expense records.

Designed to process
  • Supported notifications that appear expense-related
  • Relevant fields such as source app, notification text, time, merchant, amount, or transaction reference
  • Only the information needed to create or improve an expense suggestion
Not designed to access
  • Your complete email inbox
  • Your historical SMS database
  • Message threads or unrelated notification content for general browsing

Notification access is not required to scan receipts, add expenses manually, review spending, or use other core expense-tracking features. You can turn it off at any time in Android settings. When disabled, Higxel stops receiving new notification events through that access.

A suggestion is not automatically a confirmed expense

Higxel presents detected transactions for your review. You can edit, dismiss, or save a suggestion before it becomes an expense.

05

Google sign-in, Google Drive, and Google Sheets

Higxel may offer Google services that you choose to connect. The permissions requested are displayed during Google’s authorization flow and should be limited to the functions you enable.

Google sign-in

Used to authenticate your account and associate your Higxel data with the correct user profile.

Google Sheets

Used to create, select, or update spreadsheet data when you enable expense synchronization. Higxel processes the rows and settings needed to perform the sync you request.

Google Drive

Used to select and access the spreadsheet files needed for the Google Sheets sync you choose to enable.

You can disconnect Google integrations from Higxel and can also review or revoke Higxel’s Google permissions through your Google Account. Disconnecting a service may stop future synchronization but may not automatically delete information already stored in Higxel or previously written to your Google files.

Higxel’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.

06

How information is used

Higxel may use information to:

  • create and maintain your account;
  • scan receipts and extract editable purchase details;
  • categorize, group, store, search, and display expense records;
  • calculate budgets, trends, summaries, and spending insights;
  • generate optional expense suggestions from supported notifications;
  • sync or back up data through features you enable;
  • detect errors, prevent abuse, secure the service, and troubleshoot failures;
  • respond to support requests and communicate important service or policy information; and
  • improve reliability and extraction quality by diagnosing failures and evaluating corrections made during normal app use.
Our approachNo sale or advertising use

Higxel does not sell your personal information, use your expense records for targeted advertising, or operate advertising features. Data sent to service providers is limited to providing, securing, and maintaining Higxel’s features.

07

Storage, security, and retention

Where information may be stored

Higxel may store data locally on your Android device and, when account backup or synchronization is enabled, on Higxel’s backend or connected Google services. Local records may remain available offline until they are deleted, replaced, restored, or cleared from the device.

Security

Higxel transmits data over encrypted connections and protects backend data with account authentication and cloud access controls. No storage or transmission system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

Retention

Information is retained for as long as needed to provide the service, maintain backups, resolve disputes, comply with legal obligations, and enforce agreements, subject to the deletion choices described below. Different data types and backup copies may have different deletion timelines.

Data categoryTypical retention rule
Account and cloud expense dataKept while your account is active or until you delete the relevant records or your account.
Receipt images and OCR contentKept as needed to process and support the associated expense, then removed when the related stored data or account is deleted, subject to limited backup rotation.
Notification-derived suggestionsKept until you save or clear the suggestion, disable and clear the feature, or delete your account.
Backups and logsKept for a limited operational period for recovery, security, and reliability, then rotated or deleted.
08

Higxel may use service providers to perform functions on its behalf. Providers should receive only the information reasonably needed for their role and are subject to their own terms and privacy practices.

Your available controls may include:

A

Edit merchant details, dates, categories, groups, line items, and amounts before or after saving, subject to app functionality.

B
Optional access

Decline or disable Android notification access, disconnect Google integrations, and continue using supported manual or receipt-based workflows.

C
Export and synchronization

Sync supported expense data to the Google Sheet you choose when Google Sheets sync is enabled.

D
Delete individual records

Remove expenses, receipt images, groups, categories, or other records through the relevant in-app controls where available.

E

Deleting the app from your device does not necessarily delete cloud data associated with your account. Use the account-deletion method above to request deletion of server-side account data.

Children’s privacy

Higxel is a personal expense-management service and is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us using the method in Section 12 so we can review the situation and take appropriate action.
