Loans in Accounts

Keep track of the money you lent or borrowed

See what is still to receive or pay back, record repayments, and set reminders when you need a follow-up. Loans have their own space in Higxel—separate from everyday expenses.

A clear balance

Know what is still owed

Open Accounts → Loans to see loans you have given and loans you have taken. The overview separates money to receive from money to pay back and shows the net loan balance.

  • Keep each person, amount, and payback date together
  • Record repayments as they happen
  • See the remaining balance without treating the loan as spending

Outstanding loans can also contribute to Accounts: loans to receive as assets, loans to pay back as debt. You can exclude an individual loan from net worth.

A record after repayment

Past loans stay easy to find

When a loan is fully repaid, it appears in Loan history. You can also move a loan there yourself; that does not mark an unpaid loan as paid.

Filter history by loans given or loans taken, then open a record to review the original amount, remaining balance, dates, and payment history.

Screens on this page show different sample states, not one live account.

Optional reminders

Follow up on your schedule

Choose a payback date and time, add your own follow-up dates and times, or turn reminders off. Loan reminders are separate from payment alerts used for expense suggestions.

Reminders stop once a loan is fully paid or moved to history. They depend on your phone’s notification permission and delivery settings, so keep another record for anything time-critical.

Higxel does not lend money, send payments, or collect repayments. It records the details you enter.

Personal loan FAQ

What to know

Is money I lend recorded as an expense?

No. Personal loans are recorded in Accounts → Loans, not Expense History. An outstanding loan you gave can contribute to assets; a loan you took can contribute to debt, unless you exclude that loan from net worth.

Will moving a loan to history mark it paid?

No. Loan history includes fully paid loans and loans you moved there manually. An unpaid loan keeps its remaining amount even when it is in history.

Will Higxel remind me automatically?

You can choose payback-date or custom follow-up reminders. Your phone must allow notifications, and delivery can be delayed by device settings. A reminder does not make or confirm a payment.
